The Future of Design and Construction

S3 believes that Green construction and Building Information Modeling are the future of design and construction, and that they necessitate a different project delivery system. To improve the probability for attaining cost neutral green buildings, S3 believes that we must depart from our current design and construction paradigms and processes. This departure involves four interconnected strategies - Integrative Project Delivery (IPD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), Lean Production Principles, and Green Building. When properly implemented, these strategies form an inseparable quadrate that promises a far superior outcome as compared to executing any one in isolation; IPD functions as the underlying process; BIM becomes an enabler of IPD’s objectives, Lean improves construction reliability, and green buildings are the targeted outcome. S3 is uniquely qualified to assist owners with implementing this integrated strategy.
